The World Sex Guide
A research project about prostitution worldwide
This is the World Sex Guide, a collection of prostitution
related information about most countries of the world. Many articles
were originally posted to the usenet newsgroup alt.sex.prostitution
and have subsequently been archived here, others were sent in by
email.
Every prostitution related resource on the internet should be
accessible from here. If you feel offended by stuff like this, just
don't read on.
There are no ads, pictures, graphics, sounds or java applets on this
site. No flashing colors and blinking shit either.
We don't need that stuff, because we have information instead.
All this material was contributed by anonymous volunteer
researchers. We don't accept advertising money from sex-care
providers or others.
The usenet
newsgroup alt.sex.prostitution
is devoted to discussions concerning
prostitution, as the name suggests. Hookers and their customers hang
out there. Every article posted there that does not have the letters
"ASP" in its subject line is noise and should be ignored.
One aim of the group is to
create market transparency for sex related services. To achieve this,
people post reports about their experiences with certain service
providers, and others ask for more information. (Usenet is like a
worldwide bulletin board.) We, the archive
maintainers, try to save all valuable postings and incorporate them in
this document. Read more about alt.sex.prostitution in the excellent
alt.sex.prostitution FAQ.
If you don't know how to access usenet newgroups, ask your sysadmin.
Most prices are given in local currency; use the Exchange Rate
Server to convert.
We have included excerpts from many articles posted to usenet.
The From: lines and the signatures have been deleted. We will never give
email addresses out or forward email to contributors. If you send
something in and you specifically want your (maybe anonymous) email
address mentioned, please say so. If one of your
articles was used and you want us to
remove it, contact us.

World Sex Guide for free for 3 years.

alt.sex.prostitution articles.

non-sexual country information. Your tax dollars at work!

- Thanks to AGentleMan for maintaining the alt.sex.prostitution
FAQ.
- Many thanks to all the researchers around the world who have
contributed to this site. The World Sex Guide would be nothing
without you! Keep up the good work!
- Last but not least, thanks to the dedicated sex workers
all over the world who honestly earn
their money by giving lots of pleasure to the rest of us.
- When is the next update of the Sex Guide due? How often do
you update?
We update whenever we feel like it. It mostly depends on how much
stuff we get from contributors and whether the received material justifies
sacrificing a weekend. In the past, we've updated every two to three
months. Don't ask, don't tell. We post an announcement to alt.sex
and alt.sex.prostitution after every update, and the fuckers and
vice cops (and fucking vice cops) around the world rejoice.
- But do you still maintain the guide at all?
Yes. If we should ever stop maintaining it, we will announce it
here and on the newsgroup. The guide will then be put in the
public domain so that someone else can take over.
- Do you have information about the scene in XYZ?
All we know is on the web. There's no point in asking us for more
stuff. We won't reply. Your best bet is to do a Deja News search and if you don't find anything, post a request to the usenet newsgroup alt.sex.prostitution. Before
posting there though, read the FAQ to find out about
the special Subject line conventions used in that group. The FAQ
also explains the very useful Power Search facility of Deja News.
- Can you give me the email address of the guy who contributed
article XYZ? Or could you give him my email adress? Or could you
forward a message to him?
No. No. No. Researchers who contributed to the guide will never be bothered with
stuff like this unless they explicitely wish to have their (anon-)
email address mentioned. Most people who contributed to the Guide
hang out in alt.sex.prostitution, so you can always try to post
there.
- Can you give me the chick's phone number that you
censored out, among friends?
No, my friend.
- We don't have alt.sex.prostitution on our news server!
Well, ask your system administrator about it and if they insist on
censoring, they deserve to go bankrupt. Switch providers.
There's also a way to read
news articles on the web, even though reading them
locally is a lot faster and more comfortable. If you must, try alt.sex.prostitution on Deja News. This might be the
method of choice for people struck by hard-core censorship that
won't go away.
- Can you post something for me on alt.sex.prostitution?
No. Check out the ASP FAQ for information
about how to post anonymously by email.
- Is all the information in the guide correct?
Most definitely not. Some of it is outdated, other parts have been
contributed by guys with strange tastes, and still others might even
have come from sex workers pretending to be pleased customers or
from law enforcement. Use your judgement. If you find inaccurate
information, send in an update.
- This site is great! How can I thank you?
Don't send money. Don't send thank-you-emails. Instead, do some
research on your own and send in a report.
- Are you interested in information about XYZ?
Yes. No need to ask.
- How can I contribute? Will I be anonymous?
You can either post your information to alt.sex.prostitution (see
the alt.sex.prostitution FAQ for information about
how to do this anonymously) or you can send email directly to us. The
contact info file has details. We won't give
out your email address to anyone.
- Which reports are the most important?
Those about countries or cities that we don't have any information
about so far. Second are reports about
establishments not yet covered. Reports about establishments which
we cover already are less important, unless you have a correction to
make. We don't accept reports about single girls anymore since they
outdate fast and are often unreliable. The newsgroup is the
appropriate place for this kind of material.
- If I contribute, should I give full contact information for
the establishment?
Yes, if the establishment is legal in its country. If it's not, it's best
to give indirect information that makes it possible to locate the
place ("Pick up spectator at any adult store, call the ad of the
Hawaiian Ladies at 892-XXX7"). This way, everybody interested will
find them, but
bigots can't easily complain to the police. Of course, the police
could do the detective work themselves, but chances are that
they already know about the place and tolerate it.
The above does of course not apply to ripoffs which should always be
fully exposed, complete with name, address, phone number etc.
- What else should be included in a report?
I prefer complete price information, including
tips. Don't give me the "reasonably priced" crap. Think about the
needs of travelers: precise directions, opening hours etc. The more
information the better. We are scientists here at World Sex Headquarters.
- What format should the report be in?
Plain ASCII text is best. HTML is also ok, but less so. If your
English is poor: no problem -- Americans can't speak English
either. Don't write EVERYTHING IN CAPS and start a new paragraph every
once in a while. All submissions are subject to editing.
- How did you implement the search engine?
We didn't; Infoseek did. Check it out.
- Wouldn't it be cool to have some hot pictures along with
the reports?
No. They would slow down the downloading and would't convey any
information. There's plenty of free jack-off material to be had
elsewhere on
the internet; by contrast, this here is a scientific endeavor.
- But surely some colorful background patterns, frames,
java applets, sounds, spiffy graphics, etc. wouldn't hurt?
Please kill yourself now.
- How many hits to you get? I'd love to put sex ad banners
on your pages?
The site generates about 500,000 hits per week for a total of
about 6 GB traffic per week. And now fuck off, asshole.
